Because being a nun is a choice. Because it is cultural not religious. Because it represents a shitty part of culture where women have to hide themselves and have limited rights. Because girls, even in North America, get murdered by their families for not wearing it.

Religion is a choice, for many they’re are forced into it. It’s not fair to think all Muslim womyn are forced into wearing a hijab/burqa. Plus plenty of women are killed in the name of religion, not just Muslims. Seriously it’s ridiculous when people, especially western feminists, look down on womyn who chose to wear a burqa. It’s like ” No you are too stupid to know what makes you liberated. I’ll make you liberated by force. Conform to my standards of liberation ok?”. That’s fucked up.
